Did you know that Garza Blanca Preserve is home to more than 1,400 different plants and trees, of which 173 are fruit trees? Imagine having all of this in your backyard!
For Garza Blanca Signature Residence homeowners enjoying their gated community in Puerto Vallarta who might be missing their backyard garden, did you know we have just that onsite within our 85 acre preserve? Residents can also access a stunning botanical nursery, known as a vivero in Spanish, where Garza Blanca’s head gardener, Don Gregorio, puts his green fingers to work cultivating plants and trees for placement throughout the preserve.
Keeping the Balance of Nature in Puerto Vallarta
As our gated community in Puerto Vallarta continues to grow with the construction of the new Panorama Residences and, more recently, Hotel Mousai, Garza Blanca residents will note how the environmental impact of these developments has been kept to a minimum, choosing to build upwards rather than sprawling, which would upset the balance of the botanical preserve. Part of offsetting any disturbance brought by construction, great efforts have been made to ensure that not one tree has been cut down, favoring relocation; native shrubs have been replanted and seeds cultivated to ensure that the balance of nature is maintained at this luxury gated community in Puerto Vallarta.
Visit the Botanical Nursery and See for Yourself!
A visit to Garza Blanca’s onsite nursery can be an enlightening experience for those with a green thumb who appreciate all that rises from the soil. Just last week, our real estate director, Nicole Martin, went on a mission to find a few special plants to put on the coffee tables at the space dedicated to Signature Residence in the motor lobby of Tower 4. She had the honor of meeting Don Gregorio, also known as Goyo, who gave her a tour of the Garza Blanca botanical nursery.
Don Gregorio had a special twinkle in his eye when giving her a tour of his hidden paradise located adjacent to our tennis courts yet slightly hidden from passersby. There is an orchid collection that is quite impressive and many different species of plants for relocation around the property. In Don Gregorio’s lunch hour he likes to convert coconuts and old pieces of wood into treasures. You will have a chance to see him in action if you attend the Coconut Expo that takes place once a month outside the Signature Residences office. We are honored to have such a passionate green-fingered member of staff here.
Green is Good, and it’s All Good at Garza Blanca
The onsite botanical nursery also boasts many baby trees that are part of a plant a tree program that Garza Blanca hotel guests and Signature Residence homeowners’ children are invited to join. The idea is that you can plant a baby tree and return year after year to see how much both have grown. Imagine watching your child grow older with their special tree in paradise. Speaking of planting trees, Gregorio shared with Nicole how at Garza Blanca’s gated community, if a tree is blown down or hit by lighting (as was the case a few weeks ago), dozens more are planted in its place at our gated community in Puerto Vallarta.
