Puerto Vallarta Receives Safe Travel Stamp

The state of Jalisco where Puerto Vallarta is located is proud to announce it has received the Safe Travels Stamp. The Safe Travel Stamp is granted by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). The WTTC is an organization that recognizes the proper implementation of updated health and hygiene protocols. Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have provided recommendations on how businesses should adapt to life post-COVID. Read below about how Jalisco received the Safe Travel Stamp. As a result, a vacation to Mexico is now possible.

Puerto Vallarta Receives Safe Travel Stamp

Firstly, businesses around the world are slowly beginning to reopen their doors. After temporarily closing during the peak of the COVID-19 and coronavirus crisis, a gradual reopening is in process. In Mexico, many measures were taken including closing resorts, beaches and popular tourist landmarks in order to keep people safe. Right now, businesses are reopening with updated health and safety standards in place to keep staff and visitors safe. The World Tourism Organization and more than 200 travel companies worked together to create the Safe Travel Stamp.  The purpose of the Safe Travel Stamp is to provide confidence for travelers to safely visit certain tourist destinations again. Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco and the neighboring state of Riviera Nayarit are proud to be included in areas considered safe for travel.

Jalisco – Rich Heritage & Culture

Secondly, Jalisco has a rich heritage and culture that makes it a top destination for tourists to visit in Mexico. Best known for tequila and mariachi, Jalisco is also home to top beach destination Puerto Vallarta. Likewise, Puerto Vallarta has beautiful beaches, tons of outdoor activities, and world class restaurants and shopping. Resorts began reopening in June 2020. Similarly, businesses are following strict protocol to ensure the health and safety of visitors and workers. Visitors should continue to regularly wash hands, use face masks in public areas, and avoid crowded spaces.

Riviera Nayarit

Likewise, Riviera Nayarit was among the first destinations to receive the Safe Travels Stamp. Riviera Nayarit is home to the upscale beach neighborhood of Nuevo Vallarta where many luxury resorts are based. Riviera Nayarit businesses have implemented high standards of safety and hygiene, too. The government of Nayarit announced the gradual reopening of all hotels and motels on June 15th 2020. To carefully monitor the success of reopening, area resorts plan to initially operate at 30% of their capacity. Other areas in Mexico have received the Safe Travels Stamp as well.

Currently, Mexican destinations with the Safe Travels Stamp Include:

  • Baja California Sur
  • Mexican Caribbean (Cancun, Riviera Maya and Grupo Xcaret)
  • Riviera Nayarit
  • Yucatan
  • Jalisco
