1st Raicero Festival in Puerto Vallarta: July 26th to July 28th

This informative and inspiring event is destined to be one of the most interesting Puerto Vallarta activities of the year, and will include a group prayer and offering to Mother Water Tatei Haramara in which everyone will thank her for all her blessings that we are enjoying in our lives. In addition, traditional grandparents will be on hand to share their expertise in natural medicine as well as to lead ancestral songs to inspire and invoke a sense of well being for everyone that attends.

Are you new to the arena of temazcales and natural healing? If so, this is a perfect chance for you to attend workshops about ancestral knowledge during the festival that the whole family can enjoy.

A temazcal is a type of spiritual sweat lodge experience that originated during pre-Hispanic times in Mesoamerica, and is becoming more popular in recent years. The word temazcal actually comes from the Nahuatl word temāzcall. In English, Temazcal is also written as temezcal, temascal, or temescal. If you haven’t tried it before, this is a great chance to learn more about all the physical and mental benefits you can reap from a temazcal experience.

Ancestral Singing and Mexican Dance

In addition to enjoying a traditional temazcal experience, Puerto Vallarta activities at the festival will include a flower ceremony and native singing in Xochil. There will also be a circle of Danza Mexicana dance that everyone can participate in.

In addition, there will also be a live music presentation by the Guadalajara based band Ampersan.  Since the band’s formation in 2007, Ampersan performs traditional music of Mexico using cultural exchanges and field work, as well as being involved in sound experimentation and incursions into contemporary academic music. Ampersan is expected to perform an incredible show during the Raramaro Haramara Festival that will take place on July 26, 27 and 28 in Puerto Vallarta at Rancho Madre Tierra.

Make sure to plan ahead and buy your tickets now for the Festival as there are discounts available for pre-sale purchases. In addition, there will be limited space so it is smart to reserve your spot now. Entry Fee starts at $500 pesos for pre-sale tickets until July 12, or you can pay $600 pesos on the day of the Raicero Festival. Children under 12 years old can enter the festival for free!
