According to a Press Release issued by the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fideicomiso de Turismo de Puerto Vallarta), it comes as no surprise that Puerto Vallarta is considered one of the best places to retire in the world. The press release comes in response to the findings of the Annual Retirement Abroad Index published by the website Live and Invest Overseas site which names Puerto Vallarta in second place after Portugal’s Algarve for the best places to retire abroad.
The report takes into account various factors when calculating the best places to retire abroad, including safety, climate, infrastructure, hospitals, taxes and the quality of life in general, suggesting that a couple could live on less than $ 2,000 a month in one of selected top seven places to retire in the world.
Other locations in Mexico to be mentioned on the Live and Invest Overseas website’s list of the best places in the world to retire were San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, in addition to countries such as Spain, Nicaragua, Belize, Colombia and Argentina.
One of the aspects that helped rank Puerto Vallarta so high on the list was because it is considered one of the safest places to live, with a Grade A classification, highlighting that there are also bilingual tourist police to help visitors should they need it. As for the cost of living for a retired couple, Puerto Vallarta finds itself in a comfortable category with an average cost per month calculation at between $1,700 to $2000 dollars a month on average.
Other important factors that are relevant for those seeking the best places to retire in the world is Puerto Vallarta’s great climate, good tourist infrastructure, the environment, the range of real estate, health care, entertainment, level of English speaking services, cost and access to internet and recreational activities. The close proximity of Puerto Vallarta’s airport was also an important factor to consider.
