If you have been to Puerto Vallarta before then you are probably aware that since 2011 the city\u2019s Downtown area has been receiving widespread renovations which include changes to the Malecon and Los Muertos Pier. You will most likely also be aware that the old pier in Puerto Vallarta was in a state of much needed TLC. Today, however, you will be able to marvel at the new and unique pier that has risen in its place to be an architectural focal point in Banderas Bay.<\/p>\n
Puerto Vallarta\u2019s Pier to be Proud Of<\/strong><\/p>\n This new pier was designed by architect Jose de Jesus Torres Vega, esteemed winner of the Biannual Architecture Prize, and was finished in January 2013. Puerto Vallarta\u2019s new pier was designed based on the image of a large sail which twists around the end of the pier, lighting up in various colors at night. From certain angles it actually looks like a full sail boat.<\/p>\n A Colorful Sight<\/strong><\/p>\n At night the colored lights make for the perfect backdrop to a romantic walk along the beach, but during the day the pier has a very functional life. Boats arrive to and depart from this pier all throughout the day taking tourists and locals alike on sports fishing trips, journeys to nearby islands like Yelapa and on booze cruises. There are also benches along the length of the pier which visitors can make full use of should they wish to.<\/p>\n
