Downtown Tour<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The downtown tour runs three days of the week; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9am with another tour at noon on Tuesday and Wednesday. All tours leave from the tourist office in the town square (Zocalo) and wind through the downtown area while the guide talks about the architecture, the history of the town, and the famous denizens of the town (past and present). We recommend that you wear comfortable shoes and bring water as the tour takes around 2 hours.<\/p>\n

Free Sculpture Tours<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Each Tuesday at 9:30am, Gary Thompson of Galeria Pacifico leads the free Sculpture tour which takes in all the artworks on the famous Malecon boardwalk. The tours leave from the Millennium Sculpture (next to Hotel Rosita), and may sometimes be started off by the sculptor of the piece, Sr. Fernando Ba\u00f1os (also known as Mathis Lidice), who will talk about his work. This tour ends up at the Galeria Pacifico where you will have the chance to meet more artists and discuss their works with them.<\/p>\n

Los Muertos Beach and south shore walks<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you like a traditional vacation beach day then Los Muertos beach should be high on your list of money saving activities; the sands are pristine, the waters are warm, and there\u2019s plenty of room to build some killer sandcastles. There are bars and restaurants nearby, but if you\u2019re on a budget you should consider bringing a picnic along with you! If you start walking south from Los Muertos Beach you will find some of the most beautiful coves on the south shore. Remember to stock up on sunscreen so that you don\u2019t end up burned to a crisp!<\/p>\n

Isla Rio Cuale<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Isla Rio Cuale is a unique island found in the Rio Cuale river, and covered by the sea to the north; you can reach it from the mainland via hanging bridges, and we heartily recommend that you do. A stroll through the foliage, along the walkways and up to the John Houston memorial is the perfect way to while away a few hours of the day in perfect tranquillity. If you start at the beach and walk upstream, you will eventually arrive at a cultural center passing the various traditional stalls selling souvenirs.<\/p>\n

The Art Walk<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Puerto Vallarta Art Walk is not so much a walking tour as it is a free event in which you can mingle, have a few glasses of wine, speak to artists and make your way around some of the best galleries in the downtown area. The Art Walk runs from October to April, and often sees local artists talking about their work so be sure to grab a map and get exploring!<\/p>\n
