In addition to dolphins, sea turtles regularly return to the shores to lay their eggs before heading out to sea once again. The 5 most common species of turtles found in the Banderas Bay are the olive ridley turtle, the delicate leatherback turtle, the green turtle and the hawksbill turtle. Each of these turtles regularly visit the coast of Puerto Vallarta and are protected to help ensure their survival.

Also, each winter brings about the amazing return of humpback whales who migrate to the area each winter between the months of December through April to birth and nurture their young in the warm waters of Banderas Bay.
