First International Sculptors Forum in Puerto Vallarta

Hotel Mousai, located on the Garza Blanca Preserve in Puerto Vallarta, played host to a press conference at the end of last month announcing Puerto Vallarta’s first International Sculptors Forum. Garza Blanca Real Estate’s developer, Luis Fernando González Corona, was joined by the Dean of the CUCosta University of Guadalajara campus, Dr. Marco Antonio Cortés, and the Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Arturo Dávalos Peña, to officially announce the International Sculptors Forum which will take place from November 13th to November 25th at the CUCosta campus in Puerto Vallarta.

Massive sculptural workshop

The idea is to turn Puerto Vallarta into a cultural workshop on a municipal scale with the help of the CUCosta, Puerto Vallarta’s City Council and local private patrons such as Garza Blanca Real Estate’s developer, Luis Fernando Gonzalez Corona. During Puerto Vallarta’s first International Sculptors Forum the city will welcome 11 renowned international sculptors hailing from countries such as Germany, Egypt, Spain, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Iran, Mexico, Peru, Taiwan and Turkey. Selected students studying on the CUCosta’s Visual Arts degree program will be supporting the event under the curatorship of the renowned academic and sculptor, Kemal Tufan from the University of Marmara (Turkey).

A new cultural attraction in Puerto Vallarta

Celebrated Puerto Vallarta magazine, Vallarta Lifestyles, quoted Dr. Marco Antonio Cortés from the press conference as saying, “With this forum, we want to offer new tourist attractions that contribute to convene a new profile of tourists, more oriented to the enjoyment of cultural, material and symbolic heritage.” What is for sure is that the project is destined to heighten the artistic and cultural impact of the city even further.

Seven sculptures for donation

Businessman, real estate developer and president of Tafer Hotels & Resorts and the Villa Group, Luis Fernando Gonzalez Corona, offered his support to the cultural project alongside other private patrons. Seven sculptures will be donated in total, destined for Puerto Vallarta’s most popular neighborhoods, with the possibility of creating a competition whereby the local communities compete for the sculptures.

Garza Blanca Preserve’s Art Collection

Tafer Hotels & Resort’s commitment to the arts has been long-standing. The Garza Blanca Preserve is home to a number of stunning sculptures including an impressive collection of larger-than-life sized buddhas located around the preserve as well as a newly acquired collection of sculptures and paintings crafted by renowned local artists such as Ramiz Barquet, Hugo Barajas and Héctor Montes.

Puerto Vallarta International Sculptors Forum 2017 will take place between November 13th and November 25th at the Centro Universitario de la Costa in Puerto Vallarta. Admission is free.
