The Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens is a nonprofit group that heavily relies on donations and contributions to maintain and operate the naturally beautiful sanctuary just south of downtown Puerto Vallarta, and just a short drive from Garza Blanca beachfront residences and resort. The Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens regularly hosts a wide variety of interesting workshops and events to attend including this month’s Vallarta Bird & Nature Festival. With community support and donations from members and visitors, the Vallarta Botanical Gardens continues to run various conservation projects and educational events that locals and visitors alike enjoy. Want to help support? Please visit the Botanical Garden’s website at https://www.vbgardens.org for more information about membership opportunities, and how you can help with a financial donation to keep this incredibly important organization up and running.
There are numerous workshops and tours that are part of this year’s Vallarta Bird & Nature Festival. All of the tours and workshops will be available in both English and Spanish to accommodate park visitors. While entry into the Botanical Gardens is only $200 pesos per day, tours and workshops that are offered outside of the Botanical Gardens cost between $600 to $1000 pesos. Some of the interesting workshops include a visit to the Macaw Sanctuary in Cabo Corrientes known as “Santuario de las Guacamayas”, a morning bird walk through the Botanical Gardens, and a visit to the Estero El Salado. There is also a workshop about woodpeckers that are native to Jalisco, and a visit to Rancho Primavera in El Tuito. Do you have a young artist in the family? There is a free bird sketching course for children 8 years old to 12 years old that will be held onsite at the Botanical Gardens Hall of Flowers. The adult bird sketching course is held at the same time and only costs $300 pesos per person. For the full schedule of events, visit the Vallarta Bird & Nature Festival website at https://vallartabirdandnaturefestival.com/the-meet-ups to sign up to secure your spot.
Admission to attend the Vallarta Bird & Nature Festival is only 200 pesos per day, or 500 pesos to attend all 3 days of weekend events. Children under 4 years old enter for free. Admission costs are collected at the entrance to the Botanical Gardens which is located 24 km (15 miles) or 30 minutes south of downtown Puerto Vallarta.
