Derby City Burgers was founded by a partnership between a Kentucky native and a Mexico City transplant whose shared vision brought some of the best burgers around to Old Town Puerto Vallarta. A cash only burger joint, their menu was inspired by Louisville, Kentucky fare, and a few burgers are aptly named “Derby,” “Bluegrass BBQ” and even “Slugger.” Their logo features a giant burger with a toothpick depicting a fleur de lis inside of a horseshoe. In addition to their delicious and generously sized burgers, Derby City Burgers even has a small bourbon selection which is a rare find in Mexico. They also offer a nice selection of salads, appetizers, sandwiches in addition to their claim to fame. Most burgers come with regular fries or sweet potato fries and salad, and your meal will cost around 105 pesos which is only around $7 USD at the current exchange rate.
A popular health food restaurant that offers a variety of of vegetarian and vegan options in the Olas Oltas neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta, Salud Super Food is well known for its delicious breakfast and lunch fare. In addition to their breakfast menu and fresh smoothies, they also offer several homemade tasty veggie burgers that won’t have you missing meat at all. They also have house made veggie burgers. There offer four different veggie burger options, which are listed on a chalkboard inside the restaurant by the bar where you order your food. The Pachapapa is a vegan style option, and they add barbecue sauce, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, Tillamook cheddar cheese, and even turkey bacon if you’re not vegetarian. They also offer gluten-free burger options, and everything is made using only the freshest ingredients and seasoning. The Pachamama burger is another popular homemade veggie burger that will leave your taste buds tantalized.
Located in the Marina area near the Airport, Jean’s All-American Hamburgers have been offering some of the best burgers in Puerto Vallarta for years. One favorite is the “mexican” double burger which is topped with caramelized onions and chipotle sauce. The premium traditional burger or Hawaiian burger are often great choices. Don’t forget to try one of their homemade milkshakes as well. The Strawberry milkshake and the cinnamon milkshake are sure to please. Reasonably priced and convenient for those who want to grab a quick bite, Jean’s All-American Hamburgers are a must try for your next visit to Puerto Vallarta.
Los Muertos Brewing is famous for its artesanal crafted beer and homemade pizzas, but they also offer delicious burgers that are hard to beat. All burger plates come with your choice of either homemade french fries or sweet potato fries which are both 100% natural, or you can select a house or Caesar salad. Los Muertos burgers are over well sized at 1/3 pound, which is 170 grams. Burgers are served with your choice of toppings such as cheddar, swiss or american cheese, veggies and sauces including mayo, chipotle, pesto, 1000 island or ranch. Want to quench your thirst as you enjoy your burger? Don’t forget to try their locally made craft beer as Los Muertos Brewing is one of the only brewing companies in the Puerto Vallarta region.
Well known for their delicious fish entrees and tacos, Joe Jack’s Fish Shack also serves up a mean burger. The French fries that accompany your burger are perfectly cooked and seasoned, and if you like bacon, make sure to add to your burger as it is cooked to perfection as well. During the summer months, they offer a burger special on Wednesdays for only $120 pesos all day long. If you come during 12pm – 5pm, make sure to try their 2×1 mojito special as well. With fresh ingredients, you can choose from a variety of flavors including traditional lime, mango, strawberry, ginger and even passionfruit.
