Summer is Here! How to Stay Cool in Puerto Vallarta

Summer is just around the corner and temperatures are on the rise in Puerto Vallarta. The heat and humidity that accompany the summer months make keeping cool a priority so you can make the most of the season and enjoy your time in paradise. Are you wondering what to do in Puerto Vallarta when the weather is sweltering? Here are 3 fun ways to keep cool during summer in Puerto Vallarta and still have a great time doing it.

Hit The Beach

The number one option for staying cool in Puerto Vallarta during the summer is obviously to hit the beach! Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay have miles of beautiful beaches that visitors and residents love to enjoy all year round. In the summertime, taking a swim is especially enjoyable and you will feel as if you are floating in a giant bathtub in Banderas Bay.

You can head down to Los Muertos beach downtown near the pier if you are in the mood to lounge in a chaise and people watch under the shade of an beach umbrella. With a ton of great restaurants located right on the beach, you will have your pick of a ton of delightful options where you can enjoy lunch, sip on some refreshing cocktails, and enjoy the beauty of Banderas Bay and its incredible ocean views. Do you prefer a more secluded beach where you can swim and soak up the sun without the big crowds? Head south of Old Town to Conchas Chinas which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. Bring along a cooler or snacks as there are no restaurants at this beach.  Want to horseback ride on the beach? Head north to the quaint town of Bucerias where you can horseback along the shore for only a few hundred pesos.

Swimming Holes & Waterfall Hikes

Another great option for staying cool during the summer in PV is to check out one of the area’s beautiful rivers and swimming holes. Although some rivers tend to get quite dry during winter and spring, once the summer rains come there are tons of great locations that exude natural beauty and are ideal for cooling off.

Do you like adventure and don’t mind hiking a bit off the beaten path? If so, head to Palo Maria near the Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa where you will find a nice rock filled river that is a great spot for swimming and relaxing. Bring along a picnic and set up camp under the shade of giant trees that line the river. Keep heading further inland and you will be rewarded with a beautiful waterfall and an even deeper natural swimming hole where you can dive and float till your heart’s content. Another great place to chill out in the middle of the jungle is at Chico’s Paradise which is 30 minutes south of downtown Vallarta near kilometer 20 on the PV-Manzanillo highway. Chico’s Paradise is a beautiful river with natural pools that are ideal for relaxation and tranquility. There is also a great restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Mexican food along with incredible river and mountain views.

VIP Cinema at La Isla Shopping Center

Want to get out of the sun for a bit and cool off in the comfort of air conditioning? If so, you will love the VIP Cinepolis Cinema at La Isla Shopping Center.

Get ready to chill out and watch the latest blockbuster as you sit back in a comfy leather recliner and enjoy the courteous service of waiters ready to bring you anything you request. The VIP Cinema has a full menu with everything from sushi to hamburgers to delicious desserts. You can even order a cold beer or glass of sparkling champagne to sip as you watch the movie.  After enjoying the movie, you can browse the shops at La Isla and pick out a new outfit or two. Don’t miss the turtle sanctuary and koi fish pond near the entrance.
