Puerto Vallarta Tourism On the Rise

Puerto Vallarta has long enjoyed an abundance of tourism as thousands of visitors visit and revel in its beautiful beaches and charming cobblestone streets each year. For culture seekers and those yearning to obtain an authentic Mexican small town experience, Puerto Vallarta is the place to be. With a myriad of outdoor activities and varied dining and shopping options, Puerto Vallarta has something for everyone whether you want to enjoy typical Mexican life at its core, or if you want an elegant, upscale evening on the town in a sophisticated, cosmopolitan atmosphere. Due its increasing popularity, more and more flights and cruise ship stops are being added to bring in even more visitors to Puerto Vallarta so that they can see what all the fuss is about. Read below to see what lies ahead for Puerto Vallarta in late 2018 and into 2019.

Sunwing Flights from Quebec City to Puerto Vallarta

Canadians have always made up a sizeable portion of tourists that regularly visit the area, but Puerto Vallarta can expect to see even more Canadian visitors later this year as Airlines are adding direct flights for northerners to have a more accessible route to paradise. Canadian airline carrier Sunwing has decided to expand its flight options to include a direct flight from Quebec City to Puerto Vallarta for the first time in its history. Now Canadian visitors have a more direct route to escape the cold winters up north so they can head to sunny Mexico for a weekend getaway, or if they are really lucky to enjoy the Puerto Vallarta paradise for a few months or more.  Who knows, some visitors may end up making this gem of a town their home base permanently. The inaugural Sunwing flight is scheduled to depart Quebec City on Monday, December 17th, 2018 and regular flights will run all through high season until April 15th, 2019. Live in or near Quebec? If so, the time is now to start planning your next adventure to beautiful Puerto Vallarta!

Carnival Miracle Cruise Ship Returns to Puerto Vallarta

In addition to more flights being added to Puerto Vallarta’s travel roster, Carnival Miracle Cruise line has decided to bring back a cruise ship route from San Diego, California to Puerto Vallarta. It has been over 7 years since the Carnival Miracle last docked in Puerto Vallarta, and the ship is scheduled to make its first call in December 2019. The 2019 winter season is offering 10 voyages that depart from San Diego and include stops in top beach resort towns in Mexico such as Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta. As they say, all aboard!

Puerto Vallarta International Port Renovation

As most people know, Puerto Vallarta has long been a popular cruise ship destination and business is booming. In 2018, it is estimated that the cruise ship terminal will receive over 150 cruise ships this year with over 400,000 people on board. This is nearly a 10 percent increase in visitors than Puerto Vallarta received in 2017. Because of the increased tourism, the Puerto Vallarta International Port is currently constructing a $22 million USD development that will serve as the first stop for cruise ship travelers arriving into Puerto Vallarta. The 72,000 square foot property will offer a variety of entertainment, shopping and dining options so that visitors can escape from the hot Mexican sun for a few hours. Inside this innovative center visitors will enjoy a Tequila distillery, art gallery, artisan shops, a cultural center, a spacious food court, and what is projected to be the largest aquarium in all of Latin America. In addition to receiving cruise ship visitors, the project will also be open to the public so that travelers and locals alike can enjoy an unique experience with flair.  The renovations are expected to be completed by late 2018 or early 2019, and is destined to become another must see destination for Puerto Vallarta. The added revenue generated by this amazing new establishment will ultimately back to the local community as new jobs will be created. A surefire and positive way to keep Puerto Vallarta prosperous and jovial for those who call this beautiful city home in addition to its beloved visitors.

Whether you travel to Puerto Vallarta by land, sea or air, there are even more ways to get to your favorite beach town. No longer a peaceful fishing village, Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful mix of everything you could ever want and more…what are you waiting for? See you at the beach!
