Puerto Vallarta: Top 3 Places to Take a Picture

In today’s digital age, nearly every moment and important experience is documented with a photo and often shared with friends and family on social media. Thanks to the advent of the modern cellular phone, it’s easy to capture a great shot whenever you want to. Are you living in Puerto Vallarta or visiting the area, and curious about the best place to take a picture? Would you like to memorialize a special moment in time forever? Here are the top 3 places where you can take that perfect photo in PV that will

Cerro de La Cruz

How do you feel about getting a little exercise in on your way to get that picture photo? If that sounds great, you will love the urban hike up the stairs to reach the top of Cerro de la Cruz.

If you start on the malecon downtown in Puerto Vallarta near the Mandala and Zoo bars, you head straight up Calle Abasolo to make your way to the top. The Cerro de la Cruz Lookout is located on the East side of downtown Puerto Vallarta. It offers beautiful city and Banderas Bay views from the lookout point. Locals enjoy the serenity of the location, and it is also a popular spot for fitness fanatics who make multiple loops up and down the stairs to get a good workout as well.

You can see the Pacific Ocean stretch out in front of you. Also you have views of Los Arcos on the south side, downtown Puerto Vallarta, and all the way up to Punta Mita on the far north side of Banderas Bay. If you want an incredible panoramic view that includes both city and ocean vistas, this is a top place to take a picture in PV.

Puerto Vallarta Sign

The classic colorful block letters spelling out city names have been popping up all around Mexico and across the world.

Puerto Vallarta also has its own sign situated right on the Malecon boardwalk. You can find it just north of the main plaza and Los Arcos. The Puerto Vallarta sign was actually unveiled back in 2016 during the World Tourism Day events. Located beside PV’s iconic Rafael Zamarripa “Seahorse Statue” on the downtown Malecon, the Puerto Vallarta letters were designed and created by sculptor and artist Carlos Terres. Terres also replaced the destroyed crown of the iconic Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish church right off the central plaza.

The sign has traditional city designs and motifs which make for a perfect picture. It is there to create a lasting memory of your vacation or dream life in Puerto Vallarta. Although the PV City Sign has been moved around town to various locations (including the Marina and the Amphitheater), it has returned to its original and current Malecon location making it a top place to take a picture in PV.

Puerto Vallarta Pier

The renovated Puerto Vallarta pier is another top spot to take a picture in PV.

The Los Muertos Beach pier was inaugurated with fireworks, music, and fun on January 4th, 2013. The pier was designed by architect José de Jesús Torres Vega who won the Mexican Biannual Architecture Prize content.

The refreshed pier is a top landmark and attraction for visitors to the area. It lights up at night to create a sailboat design that makes for a breathtaking photo opportunity.

In addition to being an ideal spot for taking pictures, the pier offers access to boats and water taxis. That allows you to explore the beauty of Banderas Bay. Some boats cruise the bay en route to the area’s pristine beaches and coves that dot the Pacific Coast. Those include the quaint villages of Las Ánimas, Quimixto, Mismaloya, and Yelapa. After you get your great picture at the pier, why not take a water taxi and check out as many of these amazing destinations as you can, too.
