El Tuito Near Puerto Vallarta

If you are thinking of purchasing real estate at Garza Blanca Puerto Vallarta, you may have wondered what lies beyond Mismaloya and Boca de Tomatlan to the south. If so, you’ll likely be pleased to hear that there is much to discover. There are beaches, coves, mountainous hiking trails, and many small, charming towns like El Tuito. Of all the small towns in this area, however, El Tuito is one that you should definitely make time to see!

El Tuito is a divine place

In the Aztecan language of Nahua El Tuito means “Divine Place”, and if you take the time to actually visit this place you will soon see why it has received such a heavenly moniker! This is a quaint and charming town which is home to around 3,600 people (mainly farmers and small business owners). Recently El Tuito was named a Pueblos Magicos (Magical town) by the federal government.

The main plaza

As is so often the case with small, traditional towns like this the main plaza, or Zocalo, is the focal point of the town. It serves the purpose of meeting spot, practice space for the local children, and of course as a hub for municipal and governmental buildings. The library and municipal building can be found here, in the shade of a great tree called Maria!

Local fare and wares

The stores in El Tuito are not generally aimed at the tourist trade; this is a stunning, but very residential town which houses a small population of foreigners who have chosen to stay away from the bright lights and noise of the bigger tourist traps. The stores here tend to sell groceries, baked goods, cheeses, meats, and of course Raicilla (Mexican Moonshine).

Getting there and back

If you want to take a day trip to El Tuito whilst visiting the lights and attractions of Puerto Vallarta it is easy to do so! You can take a bus from downtown Puerto Vallarta, just outside the Garza Blanca Resort. Likewise you can rent a car, take a taxi, or book a tour through a tour agency.

Believe us when we say it’s worth the trip!
