7 Tips To Stay Cool in a Tropical Paradise

While many people enjoy the year round warm and tropical weather that Puerto Vallarta is famous for, sometimes the heat can be a little intense.  During summer and fall months, the regular rain storms can be refreshing, but can also bring about an increase in humidity that can slow you down a bit. Curious how you can keep your cool in a tropical climate until the cooler weather arrives later this year? Here are 7 tips that will help you stay cool in a tropical paradise like Puerto Vallarta.

Tip 1: Handheld Fans

A great solution to keep your cool is to use a small battery operated handheld fan. These fans do all the work for you so you won’t end up working up a major sweat fanning in an attempt to get cool. A smaller version of a standard box fan, the handheld fans run on batteries so no electrical connection is needed. It’s very convenient because you can take the fan with you wherever you go to cool down quickly.

Tip 2: Bed Linens in Freezer

Tip number two to keep cool may sound a little strange. Have you ever tried putting your sheets in the freezer? It is a great tip to help you get a cool night’s sleep. Fold the sheets neatly and put them in a plastic bag. Leave the plastic bag and sheets in your freezer for around thirty minutes. When you take the sheets out of the freezer, put them on the bed and enjoy a cool yet refreshing bed to sleep in. Though the sheets won’t stay cold throughout the entire night, the cooler sheets do help you fall asleep faster and hopefully stay comfortable longer, too.

Tip 3: Close Curtains And Blinds

When the temps are on the rise and its steamy and hot outdoors, keep your house cooler inside by ensuring all curtains and blinds are closed.  During daylight hours, the sun will heat up your house with rays entering through the windows, so keeping them closed helps lower inside temperatures significantly.  The result will be a house that is much cooler due to keeping the blinds and curtains closed in the daytime hours. Those sun rays sneaking through open windows during the day can sure heat up a house fast!

Tip 4: Unplug All Electrical Devices

Although you may not know realize it, any electronics plugged into the electrical outlet actually produce heat even regardless of whether or not they are turned on or not. When temperatures are soaring, avoid raising the inside temperature of your house even more by just unplugging all of the electronics that you are not using. It’s a quick, economical and environmentally friendly way to keep temperatures cooler in your home.

Tip 5: Aloe Vera Plant Hints

Did you know that the aloe vera plant can keep you cooler? A perfect remedy for sunburns, scratches, and cuts, the aloe vera plant gel has been used for decades as a safe and natural way to soothe a variety of injuries and sunburns. The aloe vera soothing gel is applied to skin and can help you feel cooler, in addition to healing the skin. To use it, just cut a leaf off of the plant close to the stem, and then simply rub the gel on the sunburn, injury or where you are feeling hot. Refreshing and natural way to keep your cool!

Tip 6: Cooling Gel Eye Masks

Want to treat yourself to a beauty treatment that is refreshing and affordable? Purchase a gel eye mask that are sold at most beauty stores or pharmacies. Then, take the gel eye mask and place it in the freezer. When you feel too hot and want to cool down fast, take the gel eye mask out of the freezer and place it on your face. Lay back and relax as you cool down and soothe your face at the same time.

Tip 7: Stay Hydrated With Cold Drinks

Another top tip to keep cool is to simply stay hydrated. When it is hot out, always drink plenty of water or other cold drinks. Even a chilled and delicious cocktail or beer can cool you down, but make sure you focus on agua natural first.  To make your beer extra cold, another tip is to take wet paper towels, then wrap them around the bottle of beer, then place it in the freezer. Leave the bottle of beer in the freezer for a few minutes and when you drink the beer, it will be extra cold and refreshing.

Other tips to stay cool when it’s hot and humid include heading to the mall, an air conditioned restaurant, or to the beach for a swim. Summer only last a few months and before you know it, the perfect weather that Puerto Vallarta is famous for will be back and in full swing.
